Edna Navarro

<b>Edna Navarro - Philippines</b><br/>Funded $0 of $350<br/><a href="/show/875"><img alt="Edna_navarro_thumb" border="0" height="80" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/r2d2/client_images/6634/edna_navarro_thumb.JPG" width="80" /></a><br/>Edna Navarro, 51, is a resident of Sara Iloilo. She is married to Noel Navarro, 51, a fisherman. They were blessed with 5 children namely; Adrian, a college student; Reynald, working in a fishing vessel; Noel, a college student; her 4th child is working as a babysitter and the youngest is a high school student.

Edna and her family experienced lots of sufferings on their lives due to poverty especially her husband who has been working so hard just to sustain their needs but still his sacrifices and efforts were not enough to provide it. Her husband is using a small boat that cannot be use during bad weather. And during those times, all that she did is to find some ways just to earn money like accepting laundry from their neighborhoods and other related works.

Edna wanted to help her husband but the problem is she didn’t know where to get a capital. Edna felt so helpless especially when seeing her children suffering. She decided to borrow an initial capital from TSKI to start a business. From the small amount she borrowed, she decided to use it to buy a 2nd hand engine for their boat to help her husband. Her husband was more inspired and he strives harder for the future of their children. Their sons, Adrian and Reynald, help their father in fishing. Edna was so proud of her family because of their support to each other. Their income in fishing was use for their daily expenses and Edna see to it that their money will be used properly. She spares some of their income and invests in a bigger fishing boat.

As of now, Edna still needed an additional capital for her business expansion. She wanted to invest in buying and selling fishes to help her husband in earning extra money. She also wanted to purchase another fishing boat for her son who is currently working in other fishing vessel.

An additional income will be a big help for Edna and her family. She know that the only thing that she could offer for her children is a good education.

Lusicita Abao

<b>Lusicita Abao - Philippines</b><br/>Funded $0 of $375<br/><a href="/show/872"><img alt="Lusicita_abao_thumb" border="0" height="80" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/r2d2/client_images/6613/lusicita_abao_thumb.jpeg" width="80" /></a><br/>It is important that there is always a support from members of the family to be able to have a good business. Like the Abao family that really support each other in their buy and sell business. This is why Lusicita is so proud of her family despite of difficulties and hardship in their lives.

Lucisita Abao, 46, is a resident of Brgy. Agos Gloria, Oriental Mindoro. She is married to Mr. Plaridel Abao and they were blessed with 7 children namely; Michelle, 24, she is now working in Manila; the 2nd child is Jackelyn, 20, a 4th year Computer Science student; the 3rd child is Mary Jane,19, a 2nd year student taking up Midwifery; the 4th child is Plaridel, 17; the 5th child is Kevin, a 3rd year high school student; the 6th and the 7th child are in elementary level.

Having a big family is really difficult especially if there is no regular income from the couple. Lusicita’s husband is a carpenter and with his meager income he could barely support the needs of his family. Lusicita decided to start a small business with a minimal capital. She started in buying and selling different kinds of accessories and kitchen utensils. They have rented a stall at the market. Lusicita is the one maintaining her business every day while her husband is assisting him in taking care of their customers. Their children would also help them if they have no classes. Every day is a struggle for Lusicita and her family because of stiff competition and lack of capital on their business and aside from that, they have to sustain the education of their children. The couple’s 4th child is also sickly that is why he is not studying. He is always in the hospital for his check up and medication and their earnings is always enough for his hospitalization..

Lusicita is very thankful because her family is very supportive of their business. Even though she could not afford to buy some household appliances and repair their house, she is already happy because her children are studying well and they grow up with fear in God and they are also responsible.

Lusicita still needed an additional capital for her business. She wanted to put up another business like a small grocery to generate more income. She really wanted to give her children a better future and a quality education. She also wanted to have a tricycle so that she could deliver their business to other market.

An additional capital would be a big help for Lusicita and her family. It could give her more income so that she could fully support her family especially for her sick child.

She was already separated from her husband and with 6 children to feed she has to have her own income. With a small amount of money she borrowed from her sister she was able to put up her own sari-sari store. And now it was the only source of their income.

Dionisia Millalos, 44, is a native of Panglao Bohol. She was married to her husband but they were separated due to some personal problems. Six children were left under her custody. Although she was a college level, she felt paralyzed when her husband left them especially that all their children are studying.

She has to double her efforts to sustain the needs of her family as a single parent. She wanted to prove to her husband that she could provide her children their basic needs without his help. She decided to borrow a small capital from her sister to start her own business. With a small amount of capital, Dionisia knew that the easiest business for her is to put up a small sari-sari store. Dionisia felt so blessed when her sari-sari store started to draw attention from the passersby and after just a few months her sales increased and she was able to pay the capital that she borrowed from her sister. She budget her income wisely to be able to sustain the needs of her children and to send them to school. Her proper management of her business gives her a positive outcome because she was able to renovate their small house and she was also able to widen the space of her store to accommodate more goods.

As of now, Dionisia still needed an additional capital for her business. She wanted to purchase more dry goods for her store to meet the demands of her customers. She really wanted to sell more products to generate more income for the future of her 6 children. She also wanted to sell different varieties of fruits and vegetables in her store.

An additional capital will be a big help for Dionisia and her children. As a responsible mother, all she wanted is to see her children reaping their success in the future.

Amalia decided to avail a small amount of capital from TSKI to use as an initial capital to put up a small business. She started to operate a small eatery in front of their house. She bought some cooking materials and food ingredients. It was just a small eatery that has only 1 table available and can only accommodate up to five customers but still they manage to earn some profits. Their delicious foods and cheaper prices make them popular to the drivers and bystanders. Her small eatery becomes a big help for their daily expenses especially for the studies of their children. The support of her husband and her children on her business is a big help for her.

Amalia still needed an additional capital for her business expansion. She wanted to purchase materials for her eatery like cooking materials and she also wanted to widen the space of her eatery to attract more customers and accommodate them in a comfortable place.

An additional capital will be a big help for Amalia and her family. She wanted to generate more income for her children’s future. All that she wanted is to help her children to have their own business in the future.

A struggling widow with 5 children, Elena Nato has a very inspiring patience and outlook in life. Despite of difficulties in responsibility of raising 5 children alone, she remains optimistic.

Elena Nato, 50, is a resident of Biliran Leyte. She was not able to finish her elementary education due to poverty. She was already a widow with 5 children left to her. She is a fish vendor and it is her only source of income when her husband passed away. Her husband was a fisherman and the only thing he left for her family is an old fishing boat. Her eldest son was just a high school graduate but he decided to help his mother in providing the needs of their family. He used his father’s old boat in fishing. The other children continued their studying despite of the hardship they are facing everyday.

Elena and her eldest son helped each other in earning money for the needs of the family and for the study of her 4 children. She sees to it that their income will be use properly and she really save money because she wanted to buy an engine for their fishing boat. After few years of striving, Elena was able to purchase an engine and it was her gift for her eldest son who is really working hard for them.

Her proper management of her business brought her more luck because she was able to send her children in school and from a small house made of bamboos, they have now a concrete house. It was through their support to each other and determination that they were able to reach their dream.

As of now, Elena still needed an additional capital for her business. She wanted to have a new and bigger fishing boat to be use in fishing and to purchase new engine for the pump boat. She also wanted to have more capital in her fish vending to generate more income.

An additional income will be a big help for Elena and her family. She wanted to give her children a better future. She also wanted to let her eldest son return to school to finish his studies.

Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She is married to Mr. Norberto Evangelista, 47. They were blessed with 4 sons; the eldest is 25 years old and the youngest is 14 years old.

After they get married, Clemencia and her husband put up their first business which is vegetable vending. The capital came from both their parents as a gift in their wedding. It was giving them a good income at first but after a few years, many vendors also sprouted in their area and they have experienced having low sales and some of their products were also spoiled. They decided to stop their vegetable vending and they looked for other alternative source of income. It was very hard for them to start a new business because they had no capital to start with. They tried to borrow some capital from their relatives but no one let them borrowed. The couple was still hopeful and their faith to God gets stronger every day.

Luckily, one of their friends named Dingdong helped them financially to have their own business. Dingdong is a businessman and he hired Clemencia and Norberto to be one of his employees in his business. The couple was so dedicated to their work until such time that Dingdong gave them a chance to start their own business which is banana peddling. They looked for a warehouse where they could keep their tons of banana that came from a big plantation in Bukidnon in Mindanao. The couple together with their sons helped each other on their business.

The Evangelista family gained a lot of benefits from the hard work and perseverance that they have. They have purchased some household appliances and had acquired a motorcycle which helps them a lot in peddling their bananas in different towns and barangays. They were able to send their children in school.

Clemencia still needed additional capital for her business. She wanted to improve the facilities in her warehouse to maximize its space to keep more of her products. It will be a big help for her family especially for the education of her children.

An additional capital will be a big blessing for Clemencia and her family. She really wanted to give her family a better future.

Alma Celino

<b>Alma Celino - Philippines</b><br/>Funded $175 of $350<br/><a href="/show/776"><img alt="Alma_celino_thumb" border="0" height="80" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/r2d2/client_images/5899/alma_celino_thumb.JPG" width="80" /></a><br/>"A business minded woman." This is how Alma describes herself. She has been in the business for long years and she had also experienced ups and downs in business but still she managed to open up another business which is selling frozen foods and fried chicken.

Alma Celino, 43, is a resident of Dumalag Capiz. She is married to Pedro Celino and they were blessed with 4 children. The eldest is 18 years old and the youngest is 11 years old.

Alma and her husband have a business of their own which was a bakery. It was their first ventured business and they have used their combined savings to put it up. Their business went well but when competitors started to sprout and the prices of the flour and other ingredients increased, the couple decided to close their bakery. It was a hard decision for them but they had no other choice.

The couple invested their remaining money in putting up other business which is selling fried chicken and frozen products in front of their house. They are helping each other to improve their business. Her husband is the one doing the marketing while Alma is the one assigned to cooking the fried chicken. Their children are also helping them in selling their products to the customers.

It was just a simple business but the couple was very happy with the outcome because through their daily income from their business, they were able to send their children in school and provide their daily needs.

Alma still needed additional capital for her business expansion. She wanted to improve the facilities of her business to attract more customers. She also wanted to have a food cart to sell her products in the town.

An additional income will be a big help for Alma and her family. She really wanted to give her children a better future and a good education.
