Richard Otieno Ngiela
Richard Otieno Ngiela is a 30 year old Kenyan man. He is married and has 2 children. He is also caring for 2 orphans of his late brother. Richard runs a Video& Music Store and also sells soda.
His business premise and stock was burnt down during the post election violence but he has not let that incident deter him from providing for himself and his family. He started hawking his goods at the Kisumu bus terminus and he hopes that he will get money to enable him rent a premise where he can continue with his business in a stable place.
Richard needs capital to rejuvenate his business and he is glad that their loan cycle is coming to an end and he will get the funds he requires to boost up his business.
“I got into business in order to take care of my family, build their education and save for their future. I want to be able to start a stable business and achieve my dreams”. Richard says.
Client Update
Richard was encouraged by the success of the first loan he took from Opportunity International. Enabled by this loan, he said, he was able to increase his stock significantly and improve his sales. He was able to pay back well and on time, and then received a second loan. He also used this loan to pay for additional stock of videos, music cassette tapes and CDs, and sodas. He is doing well, particularly in the soda selling business, because Kisumu has been very hot!
From the proceeds of his business in town, Richard has been able to start a brick making business in Ouygis, South Nynaza province. He believes that this additional business will help to increase his income and continue to pay school feels for his children. He is about to finish his second loan and will use his third loan to rent a stall at the main bus stage so that he can serve his regular video, music and soda customers from a stable location.
This loan was repaid in full.
