Vilma Gaquing
Even with small capital, you could start a business if you have the strong will and determination. Even with small capital you could be successful if you know how to handle your business properly. This is the case with Vilma Gaquing. She started from vegetables vending until she was able to put up a sari-sari store.
Mrs. Vilma Gaquing, 37, of Sta. Cruz Occidental Mindoro. She is married to Mr. Rodolfo Gaquing, 55, a farmer. They have 3 small children.
Vilma wanted to help her husband in earning money because being a farmer, his income is not regular. He has to wait for harvesting time to earn money. Vilma knows that her husband is doing his best to provide them with their basic needs but it was still not enough, especially because their children are motivated to finish school successfully.
To help him in providing for their family, Vilma started her business with a capital of P500.00 from her savings. She invested her money in buying and selling vegetables. When she got her chance to save some of the profits, she decided to engage in buying and selling fish. Vilma put a small shop in front of their house and this is where she displayed her vegetables and fish. Because of the low prices of her commodities, customers increased.
Vilma was able to save up money to put up a variety store along the road near the army detachment. She was the only one with variety store at that time so the demand for her goods is very high. Her husband is helping her manage their business.
She was able to send her children to school through the income from her store. She also bought hogs to build extra income.
Vilma wanted to expand her business through an additional capital but she doesn’t know where to start. She needed capital to convert her variety store into a grocery store. Vilma wanted to add capital to her buying and selling business. For her, having a bigger business means bigger income and so she could give her children a better future.
