Atenia Ko
Induced with some stuff that we couldn’t afford to buy is sometimes the reason why we have the eagerness to do things that can give us what we wanted.
Atenia Ko, 51, is a resident of Toledo Cebu. She is married to a supportive man of her life who is working as a welder with an unstable income. They were blessed with 5 children who are all studying.
Having an unstable income is the reason why Atenia urges herself to strive her best to counterpart her husband’s income to sustain their daily needs. She decided to put up her own business by using her savings out of her husband’s income. She started in buying and selling fish. She was not able to rent a stall in the market so she decided to peddle her fish in the street. She would walk on the street while she was carrying two baskets of fish. If she got tired she just finds a place where she could stay and display her fish. It was a hard job but Atenia really wanted to help her husband in earning money for their children.
She was thankful because her family is very supportive of her small business. Her children would sometimes accompany her in peddling their fishes. It was a hard work but for Atenia it was just a matter of little sacrifices in order to give her children a better future. Her daily routine everyday is to wake up early morning, go to the shore and wait for the fishermen so that she could buy fresh fishes.
A responsible mother and a supportive wife, Atenia was able to send her children to school and give their basic needs. She was also able to renovate their house from her income.
Atenia still needed an additional capital for her business. She wanted to put up a stall in front of their house where she could display her fishes and she could stop in her tiring work in peddling on the street. She also wanted to buy freezer where she could keep the fishes in order to make it stay fresh.
An additional capital will be a big help for Atenia and her family. All that she wanted is to give her children a bright future by providing them good education.
