Magna Agta
Delicious and cheaper in price than the popular “lechon” or roasted pig, is the secret of the Agta family in the success of their business.
Magna Agta, 54, is a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol. She is married to Feliciano Agta, 55, a tricycle driver. They were blessed with 6 children.
Magna was just a plain housewife then. Her husband is driving their own tricycle which was their only source of income. The tricycle was purchased by the couple through a loan installment and after two years of paying the monthly payment it became their own tricycle. The income of her husband is enough for their daily needs and sometimes, Magna was also saving some money because she wanted to raise hogs for an additional income.
Magna bought some piglets from their savings. Her husband suggested that they make their own version of roasted pig or popularly known as “lechon”. The demand of “lechon” everywhere is high because it is a must for every occasion. An occasion is not complete without the favorite “lechon”.
Using their own tricycle, they accept orders and make deliveries for different occasions. Her husband is personally managing the cooking and the delivery of their “lechon” to ensure it's crispness. As the demand grows, the couple has to buy hogs from other dealers. It was a hard job but the couple is very happy with the outcome of their business.
She decided to hire one helper to assist her husband in their business. Magna felt so blessed because through her business, she was able to send her children to school and provide their needs.
Magna still needed an additional capital for her business expansion. She wanted to improve the facilities of her processing and storage area for the roasted pigs. She also wanted to widen the space to accommodate more orders.
An additional income will be a big help for Magna and her family. She wanted to provide a stable future for her children. She also wanted to give other people jobs by hiring them.
