Gaudencia Auguis
A hardworking mother and a supportive wife is how you would describe Gaudencia. She has been involved in different small businesses but due to lack of capital her business was always a failure. Until she was able to put up a bakery and it becomes the major source of their daily income.
Gaudencia Auguis, 50, is a resident of Talibon Bohol. She is married to Gualberto, 50, a fisherman. They were blessed with 8 children but only 4 of them were alive. The eldest is already married while three of them are still studying.
According to Gaudencia, she had almost tried different kinds of business from buying and selling fish, a baker in a bakery, putting up a small sari-sari store and peddling vegetables but due to lack of capital, her income could not sustain the daily needs of her family. Gaudencia didn’t lose her hope and she was still hoping that she could find a business that will give them an additional income. Once again, she started her business in buying fish but this time instead of selling the fish in the market, she would barter it for root crops and fruits like bananas, camote and cassava to other market vendors. Gaudencia has knowledge in bread making and she decided to use her initiative to make breads made up of root crops. They are using an old oven which is called “pugon” in baking their breads and it uses charcoal as a fuel. Little by little, her business becomes popular because of its cheaper price and delicious breads.
Gaudencia still needed additional capital for her business expansion. She wanted to purchase the proper equipment especially a new oven for her bakery to improve her product and increase her production.
Additional capital would be a big help for Gaudencia and her family. She has been in a lot of trials and her children are her inspiration to be more determined and stronger.
