Bibiana promised to her husband before he passed away that she will raise their children and sustain their studies no matter what. It was really hard for Bibiana to follow her promise but she did her best to raise her children alone. From a cosmetic dealer, she is now engage in buying and selling RTWs.
Bibiana, 53, is a resident of Sigma, Capiz. She was already a widow for 18 years but despite of her situation she was able to raise her two sons alone.
Bibiana was a plain housewife before because her husband’s income in farming and planting corn could sustain their needs and she has save some of the money for their future use. When her husband passed away, it was the time when Bibiana realized that she had to do something in order to move on and provide the needs of her family. A small area of farm land was left to her by her husband but due to financial problems she decided to sell it to her relatives and use the money to start her own business.
She started in dealing cosmetic products and she could get a salary on commission basis. It was a hard work because everyday, she would sell her products on a house to house scheme just to earn money for the studies of her two sons. After few years of hardship and difficulties, she was able to save some money to start her business in buying and selling RTW’s in the market. She would sell different dresses from shorts, pants, hats and blouses. She only sells few items due to lack of capital but she is already thankful because she could sustain the daily needs of her family. She was able to support the studies of her children and now they are both graduated in college.
Bibiana was so happy with the outcome of her business but she admitted that she still needed an additional capital for her business expansion. She wanted to purchase her products in bulk so that she could save some money and to have additional income.
An additional capital would be a big help for Bibiana. She is getting older and all that she wanted is that she could save money for her future use and not to be burden to her children.
