Being a single parent is really hard especially if there are 8 children under your care. This is the case of Angeles, a widow, but strong woman. She was able to put up a small sari-sari store and it was the major source of their income.
Angeles Nobleza, 45, is a resident of Sigma, Capiz. She is already a widow with 8 children left to her.
When Angeles’ husband passed away, she was really worried for the future of her children because she has no income and she didn’t know what to do at that time. They have lots of hardship on their daily lives and some of her children have to stop on their studies to help her in sustaining the needs of their family. Angeles had also accepted work such as laundry washer and house maid just to earn money. Until such time that she heard about TSKI, an organization that provides initial capital for those poor people who wanted to improve their lives. She was able to borrow a small capital and she put up a small sari-sari store.
At first, it was not easy for her to manage her business due to lack of capital but with her proper management she was able to improve her business and she has already a regular customers. After a few years, she was able to widen the space of her store and put up more goods to her store. She was able to send her children in school and provide them their basic needs.
As of now, Angeles still needed an additional income for her business expansion. She wanted to convert her sari-sari store into a grocery to put up more goods and to accommodate the needs of her customers. She also wanted to invest in hog raising project to generate more income.
Additional income will be a big help for Angeles and her family. She really wanted to give her children a better future and she believes that with proper education she could give it to them.
