Merlys is native of the Fredonia community and is a part of the trust group “New paradise” in this same community. She is a dressmaker and For the past 8 years she has been tailoring different type of garments including children, women and men t-shirts, pants, underwear and also school and company uniforms, for her traditional clients from her community and the surrounding.
She is happily married to jose Ortega ( house builder) and together have 3 adult-age children who still live in merlys’ house.
Merlys combines her business with the sale of the material for tailoring various types of garments including, fabrics, threads, zippers among others, it makes her business more productive.
She would like to have modern sewing machines and work tools, thus reach more clients.
With the increasing profits she plans to move her workshop from her home to a commercial location, to be able to offer a better service for her clients.

Merlys is content with how her business is doing. She used her loan to expand her inventory and was able to purchase higher qualities of all her inventory. This has allowed her to do better work and thus satisfy her clients’ demands. She understands that improving her business as she wants takes time. This is why she hopes to continue working and growing her business to finally get good results. She has successfully completed her loan cycle and paid back her loan in full.
