A mother and a business woman, this is how Dionisia describes herself. She was already separated from her husband and with 6 children to feed she has to have her own income. With a small amount of money she borrowed from her sister she was able to put up her own sari-sari store. And now it was the only source of their income.
Dionisia Millalos, 44, is a native of Panglao Bohol. She was married to her husband but they were separated due to some personal problems. Six children were left under her custody. Although she was a college level, she felt paralyzed when her husband left them especially that all their children are studying.
She has to double her efforts to sustain the needs of her family as a single parent. She wanted to prove to her husband that she could provide her children their basic needs without his help. She decided to borrow a small capital from her sister to start her own business. With a small amount of capital, Dionisia knew that the easiest business for her is to put up a small sari-sari store. Dionisia felt so blessed when her sari-sari store started to draw attention from the passersby and after just a few months her sales increased and she was able to pay the capital that she borrowed from her sister. She budget her income wisely to be able to sustain the needs of her children and to send them to school. Her proper management of her business gives her a positive outcome because she was able to renovate their small house and she was also able to widen the space of her store to accommodate more goods.
As of now, Dionisia still needed an additional capital for her business. She wanted to purchase more dry goods for her store to meet the demands of her customers. She really wanted to sell more products to generate more income for the future of her 6 children. She also wanted to sell different varieties of fruits and vegetables in her store.
An additional capital will be a big help for Dionisia and her children. As a responsible mother, all she wanted is to see her children reaping their success in the future.
